Trust the Wisdom of Your Body
Hello Beautiful Soul,🌷
We spend so much of our lives trying to control our bodies.
How they look.
How much they weigh.
How they move.
How quickly they recover.
How much we can achieve in a day.
We correct them.
We push them.
We compare them.
Sometimes, we even become frustrated with them for not behaving exactly the way we want.
But there is something I find absolutely incredible when I stop and think about it:
Your body is doing thousands of things for you right now - without you asking it to.
Your heart is beating.
Your lungs are breathing.
Your blood is moving.
Your digestive system is working.
Your skin is constantly renewing itself.
A small cut begins to heal without you telling your body how to repair it.
You don’t have to remember to breathe when you fall asleep.
You don’t have to tell your heart when to beat.
You don’t have to instruct your body how to turn food into energy.
Your body simply keeps going.
Quietly.
Faithfully.
Every single day.
And perhaps one of the most extraordinary examples is the creation of new life.
From something impossibly small, the body begins an incredible process of building another human being.
Cells divide.
Organs develop.
A heart begins to beat.
Tiny hands and feet form.
A whole new life is being created - while the mother may have very little conscious understanding of everything happening inside her.
The body knows how to begin.
It knows how to adapt.
It knows how to grow.
And eventually, it knows how to let go and bring that new life into the world.
We don’t consciously control every part of it.
We can’t.
And perhaps that’s part of the beauty.
Because sometimes, the body knows things that the mind doesn’t.
We live so much of our lives inside our heads.
Thinking.
Planning.
Worrying.
Predicting.
Trying to control what happens next.
But our bodies are constantly communicating with us.
A tight jaw.
Heavy shoulders.
A tiredness we keep ignoring.
A restless night.
A deep breath that finally comes when we feel safe.
These aren’t inconveniences to fight against.
They can be invitations to listen.
To pause.
To ask ourselves:
What is my body trying to tell me?
Listening to your body doesn’t mean ignoring science, medicine or professional advice.
It simply means developing a relationship with yourself.
Noticing what feels good.
Noticing what feels different.
Giving yourself permission to rest when you are tired.
Moving when you need movement.
Breathing when you’ve been holding your breath.
And seeking support when your body tells you something isn’t right.
Perhaps we don’t always need to control our bodies.
Perhaps we need to learn how to work with them.
To trust them a little more.
To care for them a little more gently.
Because this body has been working for you since the very beginning.
Before you knew how to speak.
Before you knew how to walk.
Before you understood what your body even was.
It was already keeping you alive.
And maybe self-care is not about constantly trying to change your body into something else.
Maybe sometimes it is simply about saying:
Thank you.
Thank you for carrying me.
Thank you for healing.
Thank you for moving.
Thank you for breathing.
Thank you for bringing me through everything I’ve lived.
And thank you for being my home.
You don’t have to understand everything your body does to appreciate the miracle of being alive inside it.
With love,
Olena 💖
